Canillas de Albaida is one of the “White Villages” of the Axarqia region of Andalucia.As water is plentiful the local scenery is lush and green. The village is close to the National Park and the Sierra Almijara mountains provide a spectacular backdrop for the area.
Visitors and residents are able to enjoy the local bars and restaurants. The village has shops, a bank, a church, a pharmacy, a school and two hotels.
Smaller than nearby Cómpeta, Canillas has a quiet, calm atmosphere. It is essentially a Spanish village where foreign visitors and residents are warmly welcomed.
Cómpeta is only five minutes by car or there is a lovely walk that usually takes around 25 minutes.
Málaga is the closest international airport and is approximately a one-hour drive away. The coast can be reached within 25 minutes.
