The quaint village of Archez
is one of the “White Villages” located in the
Axarquia region of Andalucia.
Situated on the banks of the Sayalonga
river, Archez is surrounded by an abundance of fruit
trees, olive trees, almond trees and vines.
The local wine is in evidence everywhere and deserves
to be sampled.
The village history goes back at least as far as the
Moorish days and the local church has a famous minaret
that dates from the Mudéjar period.
Local facilities include shops, restaurants, bars,
an hotel, a bank, pharmacy etc.
The neighbouring villages of Canillas de Albaida and
Cómpeta can be reached very easily by car.
Malaga international airport is approximately a one-hour
drive away and the coast can be reached within 20 minutes.
