Our villages

Canillas de Aceituno is a Spanish municipality in the province of Málaga, in Andalusia. Located to the east of the province it is one of the municipalities that form the Axarquia region and the district of Vélez Málaga.
This village lies at 524 metres above sea level, in the foothills of Sierra de Tejeda and is crowned with the peak of La Maroma, at 2.068 metres above sea level, the highest of the province.
Canillas de Aceituno is a village with immaculate, narrow, whitewashed streets, mudejar style arches and corners full of flowers.
The majority of the inhabitants make a living in the village, normally dedicated to construction or agriculture.
Canillas de Aceituno has many shops where one will find basic products.
The geographical location of
Canillas de Aceituno makes it one of the Axarquias natural balconies. There are many natural caves in the areas around Canillas de Aceituno.
The village has two fountains that are supplied by an Arabic water tender situated below the Town Hall building. One of the streets of archaeological interest is Calle Castillo, which still houses remains of an antique fortress and which leads to the lower suburb, towards Calle Estación. Calle Cementerio, of modern design, lies over the antique Arabic cemetery.
